Eco-conscious paintings transformed from trash
This is a mission close to my heart with wanting to do my bit for the planet. How can art promote sustainability and be made in an eco-conscious way?
By transforming Auckland’s dry waste and pre-loved materials into art that delights, I hope to encourage sustainable art practices, as less waste ends up in landfill. With much of the art being large-scale works, it feels good knowing physically it will make a difference.
There’s magic in recycled materials. Each piece is unique as you never know what you’ll find. I love that small superficial flaws and wonky edges suggest a past. To focus on sustainable, I embrace imperfections. Nothing is perfect when working with reused materials and that’s where magic lies.
It feels good to rescue and transform the art. It matters that we think about the impact of our waste and I’m hopeful each piece of art can make a difference.
